SOUNDS OF REMEMBRANCE is an umbrella organization dedicated to unifying, expanding, and sustaining the mission of SOUND IN THE SILENCE.
SOUNDS OF REMEMBRANCE will serve as the central hub for supporting and expanding SOUND IN THE SILENCE worldwide, and integrating its acclaimed site-specific workshops and performances with innovative programs that use literature, film, graphic novels, and other cultural forms as immersive entry points for historical engagement in and out of middle and high school classrooms. Through these experiential and classroom-based initiatives, participants engage in creative expression to process and respond to historical narratives—particularly those connected to the Holocaust and other histories of trauma, resistance, and resilience.
The specific purpose of SOUNDS OF REMEMBRANCE is:
Implement and grow the flagship project SOUND IN THE SILENCE
Create and nurture other artistic and educational projects both locally and globally.
Develop networks of artists, alumni, educators, teachers, and memorial sites.
Support international exchanges of youth, artists, and educators.
Develop cooperation between educational, cultural, and artistic institutions in the United States, Poland, and abroad.
Promote democratic values, human rights, and mutual respect.
Support historical and cultural education for youth and adults.
Promote culture and historical heritage through creative expression both locally and globally.
